17 May 2015

17 May is national day of Norway. It’s a big event, even abroad, that every year gathers a few thousand Norwegian ex-pats in the park in Rotherhithe.

After a service in the Norwegian Church, we enjoyed fresh-baked waffles and hot dogs (both essential to the day) before watching the parade in the park.

Maja was looking especially lovely in her bunad from Øst-Telemark.

In the park we hung out with the Olav’s Choir.

In the evening we attended dinner in the church where the Minister of Finance, Siv Jensen, gave a speech.

At the dinner, Astrid Sandvand Dahlen sang some beautiful Grieg.

Also a marching band from Bergen played.

And of course there was cake in the shape of the Norwegian flag.
